The
Connemara pony originates from Connemara, County Galway, Republic of
Ireland. The rugged landscape there ensured the pony developed into a
strongly built, hardy animal. It should have a short back with powerful
hind muscular quarters. This agile intelligent pony can usually be
trained to jump. The recognised colours include grey, brown, bay, dun,
roan, chestnut or palomino. Piebald and skewbald are not acceptable.
Movement should be free and easy.
