Decline of
Dartmoor Pony Sales |
In the News
- October 2009
The decline of
Dartmoor pony sales is being blamed on the recent change to European
Union transportation regulations. The October sales were very
disappointing with only 66% of ponies sold compared to 100% just two
years ago.
New
transportation regulations issued in 2007 only permit up to four
semi-feral horses allowed in a partitioned area on a horsebox and one
per partition on a ferry.
Whilst the
Dartmoor pony owners believe their ponies travel well together in
larger numbers, Defra argues they aim to improve the welfare of
unbroken horses and ponies during transport.
If you plan to
view these beautiful wild ponies whilst on holiday in South West
England, then why not consider staying at one of the huge range of
holiday parks available in the area. Holiday
Parks in Cornwall and Holiday
Parks in Devon offer
the largest number of parks at discount prices. |
